What does it mean to have a healthy work life balance?
In this fast paced world with many competing priorities it can be difficult to find and keep that equilibrium. So many of us are juggling, work, home, family, and community responsibilities.

What are the signs of imbalance?
According to the Canadian Mental Health Association some
common signs include:
- You feel like you’ve lost control of your life.
- You often feel guilty about neglecting your different roles.
- You frequently find it difficult to concentrate on the task at hand.
- You’re always tired.

How can you get back to and stay in balance?
It is important to consider all aspects of your life and commit to ways to create a balance in each area.

Consider Work:
- Schedule breaks throughout the day to refresh your mind, your eyes, and stretch your muscles.
- Organize your day, setting your priorities and checking off what was accomplished at the end of the day.

Consider Home:
- Create boundaries between work-life and home-life.
- Maintain a healthy diet.
- Examine what is causing upset that needs attention?
- Make time for exercise.
- Make time for some stress-relieving activities.
- Get a good night’s sleep.

Consider Community:
- Don’t over commit but consider what “fills your bucket.”
- Perhaps it is volunteering or being on a local board.
- Maybe you could provide a one-time/short-term service to a local association or a religious organization.
